Bloopers Vol. 1

Hey everyone! Happy Friday to those of you actually working today even through Good Friday. I've been off for a few days and it's glorious. My bathroom is almost done! Just another coat on the walls, a second coat on the cabinets, and the trim yet and it will be finished. I'm going to wait until I have my custom shower curtain to show you the after pictures, so hopefully that gets here soon!

Last night we had dinner at my parents' house since we won't be around for Easter. We learned of another person besides the paperboy that my dog doesn't like; my brother. My dog loves everyone, unless he is scared of you. If someone comes over that he hasn't seen in a long time, he will act scared for a few minutes before he will come right up to them.

My dog was outside when my brother, his girlfriend, and my niece came inside. We let Jeffrey in, and my brother jumped at him to pet him. This terrified Jeffrey, who ran away. Then my brother proceeded to chase him trying to get him to warm up. So my dog would not go NEAR him the entire night. I even tried to hold him and let Jake pet him. JEffrey freaked out and tried to bite whoever was nearest so he could get away from my brother.

Besides my poor dog being terrified, the dinner went well. My niece cried every time Drew tried to hold her, which was hilarious. Poor guy.

I made a blooper video with some of the outtakes from the video yesterday. We had a lot more that Drew had already deleted, so this is what was left.

We are leaving on Sunday after church for Vegas. I've heard we would have to pay for internet in our hotel, so hopfully I can find a free wifi spot to update!

Do you have any fun plans this weekend? Are you going to be with family?

My Other Half Link Up

I found this link up yesterday and thought, "What a great idea!" But then I realized, "How in the heck am I going to get my husband to do this?!"

Answer: Pizza hut.

Check out the link up and make ask  your husband/wife/girlfriend/boyfriend/ grandma to do this with you!

Disclaimer: the new imovie is awful and hard to use. I tried to edit this to the best of my current capabilities, but it isn't great. I apologize. Also, this took 20384032842304239480234  takes to get Andrew even started, so bear with the awful video.

Stay tuned for a blooper video tomorrow!

*Also, I have openings for April Sponsors! Check out the sponsorship tab for details.

Do you have to bribe your husband to get him to do this kind of stuff with you?

Weigh In Wednesday

Hey guys! It's weigh in Wednesday.

I was nervous to get on the scale today. My eating hasn't been the best. But I did it anyway.

I lost 2 lbs! Which makes me realize just how badly I must have been eating to gain all that weight. I wasn't even trying hard and lost 2 lbs. Gross.

After weighing in and FINALLY seeing a loss on the scale, it has motivated me to get back to logging my food. Even if it's over my calorie limit, I need to log in order to be successful. I highly doubt I can continue not eating right and seeing a loss.

My spring break started today, and it is glorious. I slept in until about 8:00, and went to get the paint for my bathroom. Ran some errands, taped up the bathroom, made a vlog with Drew, and now I'm off to church for the night. The vlog will be posted tomorrow, along with a ridiculous outtake video. It took us about 10 tries to even get started.

How did your weigh in this week go?

Finish the sentence linkup

I'm linking up with Holly and Jake today! They are both hilarious and you should check them out.

1. If calories didn't count, I would eat... omygosh. Everything. Ha.

2. On my (senior) Prom night.... I had a horrible time. I went with my on and off boyfriend at the time, and it was awful. I remember taking pictures at my house and my mom telling me to be nice and TRY to have fun. haha

See that fake smile? yeah.

My JUNIOR prom was awesome. I went with a group of friends and my (now) husband. We weren't even dating, just friends.
You can see him over there in the corner.

3. When I go to the store, I always buy...Um, food? Duh. See question 1.

4. Family functions typically... end in me angry at something ignorant my brother says. It happens every time. Love him, just don't agree with him.

5. I think my blog readers... are the most motivating accountability partners I know. Seriously, I LOVE them!

6. I'd much rather be... a receptionist. hahaha really. I LOVE organization, crossing things off a to-do list, answering phones. I think being a receptionist would be fun!

7. I have an obsession back to number one again?

8. My work friends... are my family. How can they not be when you spend more time with them than anyone else?

9. When I created my Facebook account... I was SO excited! I was off to college and could finally get an account. (back then, you had to have a university email to be on facebook). Who am I kidding, It was also to stalk a boy I liked. Creepy, but true.

10. My least favorite word is... the "c" word. Nuff said.

11. I really don't remember.... anything. No, for real. I have a horrible memory. What was the question again?

12. Justin Bieber... needs to go away. Forever.

Music Monday! Gettin' jiggy with it

na na na na nana na.

How is everyone's Monday going? Great? Awesome? Sweet.

MY Monday is actually a Thursday. Which means my Tuesday is actually my Friday. WIN!

Spring break starts after tomorrow, and I am ready. After school I have an online presentation for my grad school class, and then I am FREE for a week and a half! I'm hoping to buy the paint and get started on my bathroom on Wednesday.

After that, it's packing and VEGAS! Can you tell my mind is all over the place? I just can't concentrate. So many exciting things happening!

So today, instead of babbling on about random junk, I thought I would do Music Monday with a song from my favorite show, Nashville. Duh.

You're welcome!

Sunday Social Volume 2

Hi everyone! I hope you had a relaxing and rejuvenating weekend! It was a fun one for us. I only have two days of work this week, and then I have off for our spring break. I'm planning a bathroom makeover, and we are taking a trip! I have a lot to get done before we leave, but with 5 days before we lift off, I think I will have plenty of time.

My goals for this week are to workout each morning, have a loss on the scale Wednesday, and to get 1 bathroom painted! I know, odd mix of goals. What can I say?

I'm linking up again for Sunday Social!
Sunday Social

This Week's Questions:

1. What is your favorite thing about Spring?
Getting out of my "funk." It happens every year. They call it "seasonal depression" but I think it's just lack of sun/it's gross out/ too cold to do anything.

2. Favorite kind of flowers to grow or receive?
(My husband knows NOT to give me flowers. They just die and are such a waste of money!) I would love to grow some hydrangeas at my house.

3. What is your favorite nail polish color?
I don't have a favorite. I don't paint my nails all that much. If I could keep it on longer, I looove a pail pink. Toes are always changing.

4. What is your favorite out door activity?
Running, walks, bike rides, cook outs. If we lived anywhere other than here (flat) I think I would enjoy hiking.

5. Do you have any fun Spring plans?
Details! If you read my blog you already know the answer to this question. We are headed to Vegas a week from today! So excited!

What was the best thing about your weekend?

I'm prepared.

After my post yesterday, I had another not-so-great day today. Didn't exercise, ate crap, and felt awful.

I decided I'm done.

I had a talk with my husband, and I went through the whole house. I threw away all the junk. I am working out in the mornings. I am planning my meals. I am getting myself out of this FUNK!

I promise you, I am getting on that scale next wednesday with a loss.

Have you ever had a setback in your journey? What did it take for you to get back on track?

womp womp

Well, I've been dreading this. My scale picture. I debated on just not posting it and doing something else. But a promise is a promise, and I want to be honest with you all.

I haven't been to the gym in almost two weeks. I've been eating horribly. This was my wake up call this morning.

Yep. Went into MFP to input my weight and it said this:

Last recorded weight: 193.4 lbs on 02/19/13. You guys. That is a month from tomorrow. I've gained 10 lbs in a month. How embarrassed am I right now? Yeah. Ashamed. Humiliated. This was supposed to be IT. I wasn't supposed to see that number ever again. There it is.

I have no one to blame but myself. I haven't been eating right. I haven't been active. I've been letting everything else get in the way of my goals.

This sucks. I'm worth more than this.

No more excuses.

Sunday Social

Today I am linking up with Neely @ A Complete Waste of Makeup for Sunday Social this week.
Sunday Social

This Week's Questions:

1. Favorite thing to do on a rainy day? I love to cuddle up with a book! Usually I'm super busy, so this only really happens in the summer. I LOVE rainy days. This probably stems from when I was a lifeguard, and rain meant we could go home for the day! :)
2. Favorite thing to do on a Summer weekend? I absolutely love cookouts. It is such an easy and way to entertain. I also love to go on bike rides with my husband, or walks with Jeffrey. Other than that, you will see me INSIDE blasting the AC. I don't do well in the heat!

3. Favorite Spring accessory? Well, we still have snow on the ground around here. But I'm a fan of Statement sunglasses and the sporty dresses I'm seeing around.

4. Favorite way to spend a Winter day? Two things, which I did neither of this winter. Skiing, and sitting by the fire reading a book. I know, I'm super wild.

5. What is your favorite season and why? Hands down fall. I love every aspect of it. The cooler temperatures, the gorgeous leaves changing, the smell of burning leaves (I know, I'm a weirdo!) and it just feels like life slows down a bit. It doesn't really, but it makes me stop and appreciate the beauty around me.

6. Best birthday you ever had?
My husband planned a very small surprise party for me two years ago. He arranged for my best friends to meet us at a resturant. I had no idea, and one friend drove three hours to get there. My husband makes every birthday special, but this one was a major surprise.

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Enjoy the last bits of your Sunday!

Today was such I really have no words to describe it properly. Lots of things going on at work.

But then, I get home. I go to dinner with the love of my life. He makes me laugh. He listens to how awful my day was.

I come home and see this.

I ask,"when did you do this?"
He answers,"weeks ago!"

and I realize how incredibly blessed I am. I have a home. I have a job. I'm married to the greatest man.

Then I had some awesome mail:

Sweet Sweat Bands! Review coming soon. Plus a giveaway!

I also am trying a magnesium supplement to help prevent migraines. I'll let you know how it goes.

What are YOU up to this weekend???

Sorry again for my absence the past few days! It happens to the best of us, right?

Anyone else struggling with the time changing? I live in Indiana, and in 2006, we changed to daylight savings. I. Hate. It. I am a creature of habit, and my internal clock is incredible. This daylight savings crap just wacks it all off. To workout in the mornings, I need to be in bed by 8, asleep by 8:30. Unfortunately, right now my body thinks that it's 7:30, and does NOT feel tired. Then I stay up until 10:00 and cannot physically get out of bed early enough to get in a workout. I am bound and determined to get up at 4:30 am tomorrow morning and get my workout done! I feel so off when I can't get it in the morning.

Now I have a confession to make. I haven't stepped on the scale for almost 4 weeks. I was getting so frustrated with it, so I am allowing myself a break.  I think I'm going to join in on weigh in Wednesdays, so next week you will see my picture. It's probably not going to be pretty, but it is what it is. I am DYING to run outside again, and I think the time is coming soon. Weight seems to come off much faster when I run!

Along with not working out, I've been eating like crap. I'm just plain HANGRY all the time. I KNOW it's because I've been eating junk, which makes me want to eat more junk, and it's a vicious cycle. I need to break out of it. What is WITH that lately? I finally get out of my slump and head right back into another one. Time to get back to reality.

Enough with the confessions, already. I am halfway done with grad school! Whoop! This time next year I will be finishing up my online classes, and I will have a Master's degree in Educational Technology. Look at me, sounding all smart and stuff. Unfortunately I still haven't learned anything new, besides how to collaborate using blackboard for a group project when all group mates are in different states. Challenging, for sure. Useful in my classroom... eh. But hey, I still have a year left, so maybe something super new and exciting will come along that I can learn! Here's to hoping.

And since this post is all sorts of random, and every post needs a picture, I'll sign off with this gem.

You're welcome.

Jess makes a killer shoe

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

Friday I announced the winner of my $25 gift card giveaway, Susan Y! Susan, please send me your address so I can sent that out to you! :) Also, don't forget to check out my other giveaway for a $200 Target gift card, among MANY other prizes! It ends tomorrow night!

Friday after I got off work I met up with my friend Sara to do some shopping. I can't even remember the last time I went shopping with a friend. It's probably been since college. That's ridiculous, I know. We had so much fun!

After shopping a while, we went to dinner at one of my favorites, Flattop Grill. I made two bowls of the same thing, and took one home.

My bowls consisted of brown rice, some rice noodles, corn, green beans, green onions, broccoli, chicken, beef, soy sauce, chili sauce, and garlic. I usually stick with the same things - I'm a creature of habit. We met back at my house with some mutual friends and hung out for awhile. We were all super tired, and I went to bed pretty early. I'm like an 80 year old at heart, what can I say?

After dinner we decided to drive to DSW. Neither of us knew where it was, so I asked Siri. I kid you not, she tried to take us to antartica at least 5 times before she understood.

We finally made it to DSW, and I bought these beauties.

I've been wanting a pair of nude pumps but just didn't have the time/money to buy them. LOVE these so much! Jess, you make some great shoes girlfriend.

Saturday I ran errands, and did some grocery shopping. I picked a few new salad kits.

I tried the Dole Asian Island Crunch salad kit today for lunch, and it wasn't my favorite. I knew I wouldn't like the pineapple, so I didn't put it in, but the dressing was just okay and the lettuce was a little wilted. I bought it on sale since it was old, so that was my fault. I just prefer the Taylor Farms one if I'm going the Asian route. I just pick out the cilantro, it doesn't taste right in the salad.

Speaking of groceries, have you tried Ibotta yet? I earned almost $15 back on my groceries!! It gives you money back for things you buy. I'm in love! Click the link above, and then share with friends. For every friend you refer, you get ANOTHER $1! I'm all for saving money, if you haven't noticed. :)

Saturday afternoon I went and had my nails done. I don't do this often, so it's always a treat when I can go! I just did a boring french on both my toes and hands. We'll see how long it lasts! Drew texted me while I was at the salon to pick up a redbox when I was finished, so I grabbed Ted. I didn't know much about it except that Drew had told me awhile ago that it was funny. I thought I would be nice and pick up something he would like instead of a chick flick. I got home and showed him what I brought, and he told me I should have grabbed the click flick, as it was supposedly super raunchy and awful. oops. We watched it, and it wasn't as bad as I expected, but definitely wasn't the best movie i've ever seen.

Sunday we went to church and had a relaxing evening. Overall it wasn't a super exciting weekend, but it was nice! I am, however, looking forward to spring break. (20 days until we leave for Las Vegas. But who is counting?) We are going on a super cheap and short trip, and I am so ready! I changed my desktop at work to a picture of our hotel's pool.

That's probably where I will be for most of the trip. It costs extra to use the gym (Like $25 PER DAY!!!!) So I am planning on finding an anytime fitness nearby or just running the stairs. The latter is probably more likely, since we won't have a car. I've started trying to find decently priced restaurants, but the possibilities are endless.

Have you been to Vegas? What was your favorite restaurant? Any frugal tips for me?

Surviving a buffet

Sorry for the lack of post yesterday! Had a killer migraine during work, so I came home and took a nap after taking my medicine. Then I went to church and went straight to bed after getting home. I woke up and it STILL hurt, so I'm home today. After sleeping 12+ hours, I'm still getting smaller ones from time to time. I'm just a migraine machine.

Anywho- My husband came home from work and wanted to go to the newish chinese buffet in town. Yeah, our town is so exciting. I was feeling pretty good and told him that would be fine.

1. I always drink a glass of water before I head to any buffet. It fills me up a little bit, and quenches my thirst so I'm not mistaking thirst for hunger.
2. When I arrive at the buffet, I do a walk through to see what all my options are. I make note of things I want to enjoy, and my healthier options.

3. I always dish up a plate with healthy choices to fill up on first.

My first plate
I personally didn't trust the salad at this place, so I stuck with some fresh fruit. The bananas had some weird sauce on it, so I didn't eat it. (Probably to keep them from turning brown?)

4.  I never fill up with fried foods first. If I want to have a small portion of something fried, I'll go for it later on. A huge plate would just make me feel when I was finished. Plus, I would be hungry sooner after we left than if I had filled up with protein.
(Drew's 1st plate)

5. I Fill up my next plate with grilled options- protein, veggies, more fruit. Tonight I chose some spicy chicken and did the hibachi grill. I filled my plate with noodles, chicken, beef, and veggies. (sorry, forgot a picture.)

6. I Allow myself to enjoy a small portion of something I really want, but isn't always nutritionally sound. Moderation is key! I had a small cup of vanilla ice cream.

7. At Chinese buffets, I always look forward to my fortune. This was my gem this evening-

Wise words.

What are your tips for surviving a buffet?

Time for a change

In a few weeks, I will have a week and a half off for spring break. Drew and I are headed to Las Vegas for a few days, but other than that, I have nothing planned. I was talking to my mom this evening, and we decided it's time to tackle the bathrooms in my house. I haven't touched them since we've moved in, and they are icky.
Master bath

guest bath
Those pictures are from when we moved in, and they are no longer empty- but still white as can be. We are keeping the paint in the house as neutral as possible for when we sell it in a few years, but I can't STAND brown/ beige anymore! I need some color!  I've settled on mint for the master bath, and a grey/blue in the guest bathroom.

Guest bath color- with some sort of bold curtain. Not a fan of this one. I am also going to stain the cabinets to look like this.

I want to do mint like this bathroom- with a bold grey chevron shower curtain. I *may* paint the trim and cabinets white, but we'll see.

The only problem with these plans? I need to keep all supplies and hardware under $200. Yep. I'm poor cheap. Hey, if I can book a roundtrip nonstop flight to and from Las Vegas plus a hotel for 4 nights for under $1,000- I think I can manage to stay under $200 for these two rooms. We might have to be creative!

I've been looking up some paining/decorating tips to get prepared. The last painting project we  I  did was awful. It took FOREVER and the tape wouldn't come off the trim. This is probably why i've been pushing more painting off for so long. Well, and the cost of everything also makes us wait.

What are some painting/ cheap DIY tips?  Help a girl out!

*Don't forget about the $25 Target giveaway! ENDS TOMORROW!
